Considering all that is going on politically in San Antonio, I have been doing my best to stay away from it and settle for talking the occasional politics with my dad over dinner. You could say that life got in the way of the politics that I really want to be a part of again. I can say this however, I am trying to do more than just vote, I try to stay informed and also try to engage others that I know to do more than vote, but to also vote smart this election.
On another note I spent a few minutes in a coffee shop talking to the publisher of the San Antonio Post, a locally published rag that I haven’t had the opportunity to read as of late. The person is a friend of someone I was talking to at the time and we chatted for a moment about the San Antonio River Authority and about my campaign for a seat on the board of trustees with the Alamo Colleges.
The gist of the conversation was that I did the right thing by running, even if I lost and that I should be looking at a run for local office again soon. Sometime down the road I will run for some elected office, but first I would like to focus on finishing college and teaching for a few years. Life simply has its way of getting in front of that catastrophe called politics.
